ACROSS THE PACIFIC
Composed, written, and produced by Solon Reyes, Across the Pacific is a drama set to music, and was premiered at Mississauga’s Living Arts Centre theatre on November, 2000. A story about the migrant experience, of cultures interweaving, and the human need both to explore as well as to return home, this production incorporates upbeat Broadway musical-style numbers, alongside traditional Filipino folk dances and variations on indigenous musical traditions. This CD recording features selections (solos and ensemble pieces) from Across the Pacific, performed by soprano Eleanor Calbes, tenor Leander Mendoza, and soprano Lilac Caña, with Solon Reyes accompanying on piano.
